The mayor of Rainy River will continue to head the area’s municipal lobby group.
Deb Ewald was elected president of the Rainy River District Municipal Association during its weekend meeting, held virtually for the first time.
Alberton township Councillor Peter Spuzak will serve as vice-president.
Fort Frances Councillor Wendy Brunetta and Dawson township’s Doug Hartnell will act as the Association’s reps to the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association’s board of directors.

The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association has announced a new Executive Director.
Andrea Strawson as started her duties with the regional lobby group.
She has a strong background in municipal government having spent over three years working for the Municipality of Shuniah in a variety of jobs.
Strawson was instrumental in the development of local initiatives that aimed to improve the lives of residents in the community.
Strawson says she’s excited to be in a position where she can work with a great group of like-minded individuals to continue to build stronger communities in the region.
She takes over from Kristen Oliver who left to become the Senior Advisor on Municipal Affairs and Stakeholder Relations with Enbridge.
