Jane Hunt Gives $1M to New Beginnings in Fayetteville

Send Jane Hunt, at the 33rd Arkansas Business of the Year Awards ceremony in Little Rock. (File) (Tony Baker) New Beginnings of Fayetteville on Monday announced the largest donation in its history $1 million from Jane Hunt, the daughter of J.B. and Johnelle Hunt, founders of J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. of Lowell. The nonprofit said it will use the money to fund construction and operation of a housing community for the homeless in Fayetteville. The complex, which broke ground in 2019 but began construction last fall, will include 20 temporary shelters surrounding a shared building with a kitchen, shower house and laundry.

Another Hybrid Weekend

Courtesy / The Momentary Diana Al-Hadid: Ash in the Trade Winds debuts at the Momentary today. It joins two other exhibitions featuring works by Sarah Cain and Derrick Adams that opened in February. Admission is free to all three exhibits. Tickets are not required, but the Momentary is operating at reduced capacity.

Accordingly, we have added some talent as well, bringing on new writer Sean Laughlin. Sean will be writing the Sunday gamethreads and recaps and will provide his own perspective as a formerly player and current coach. I’ll let him talk about his background. Just like past season slogans, I am Raised Royal, Always Royal, and back in 2003 I definitely ‘Believed’. Growing up in Overland Park in the late ’90s and 2000s there was nothing better than going to the K, getting a drink and a hot dog after the second inning, and watching my idols play. I wanted to hit like Carlos Beltran, pitch like Jeff Suppan, and grow sideburns like Johnny Damon. I, like a lot of KC kids, was a loyal Blue Crew member who couldn’t wait to run around the bases after a game. I
