Historic Columbia River Highway closed after landslide KATU Staff © Provided by KOMO-TV Seattle MULTNOMAH FALLS, Ore. The Historic Columbia River Highway is closed in both directions after a landslide sent debris onto the roadway. The Oregon Department of Transportation closed the highway Sunday morning one mile west of Multnomah Falls and estimates that the highway won t be reopened until sometime Monday. An estimated 70 yards of debris was blocking the highway Sunday morning between Angel s Rest and Multnomah Falls. A Flood Watch for most of Northwest Oregon remains in effect through Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service. Excessive rainfall can lead to the flooding of rivers and streams, such as Mosquito Springs Creek, said the NWS, which makes landslides and debris flows possible.
