A Sedona resident is planning on building a 192-unit apartment complex on Candy Lane near Verde Valley Medical Center.
While not set to open until 2022, the complex will add nearly 200 units to the Verde Valley’s depleted rental supply.
We find it completely unsurprising that the only way the Sedona area’s dearth of affordable or reasonable or workforce housing might get any relief is if other communities step up and do what Sedona leaders can’t or flat-out won’t do.
One of the co-developers of this property recently applied to fill a seat on the Sedona City Council. It is telling that no member of council offered a single vote to the one applicant actively trying to build housing and help alleviate the biggest problem in the Verde Valley but hey, at least he was a finalist! Bronze medals are awesome!

The Inspirati on at Cott onwood apartment complex will feature 192 units for lease, ranging from 694-square-foot one-bedroom apartments to 1,181-square-foot three-bedrooms, with the most common size being two-bedroom units. The 9-acre complex near Candy Lane will open in 2022.
In April 2018, the Cottonwood City Council unanimously approved a plan to rezone 9.01 acres of land on State Route 89A, near Candy Lane, from Commercial and Industrial to Planned Area Development, allowing for the construction of a new housing development called Inspiration at Cottonwood.

A Utility Worker From Flagstaff Is Assaulted By A Man Wednesday In Cottonwood
A utility worker from Flagstaff was attacked by a man while doing paperwork in his work truck Wednesday morning in Cottonwood. Police responded to the area of Cactus Street and North Main Street on a report of a man hitting another man repeatedly in the head with a rock. When officers arrived they immediately arrested 44-year-old Rian Lloyd Wilson from Glendale. The victim, a 49-year-old utility worker, was inside his work truck when Wilson walked up and starting banging on the closed window. When the victim attempted to open the door to speak to Wilson, he broke the driver door window and immediately began assaulting the victim with a rock to his head. The assault continued until the victim was able to gain some control of Wilson and yelled for help. County To Launch More Vaccine Appointments; Spanish-Language Options
Coconino County officials say they’ll open registration for 700 new appointments at noon today to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The first-dose appointments will take place next week at Flagstaff’s Fort Tuthill vaccination site. The county also says it will unveil a Spanish-language registration system for residents also set to launch today at noon.
The new appointments come after county officials expressed frustration over limited vaccine supply; inclement weather in other parts of the country also hindered vaccine appointments last week due to delayed shipments. Registration information can be found on the county’s website, which also contains a COVID-19 information hotline.
