Spiritrade is giving a second life to short shelf-life stock 09 March 2021 By db staff To help brand owners during the pandemic, Spiritrade has added a new category on its platform dedicated to the listing of short and out-of-date stock. The hospitality sector has been the hardest hit of all global industries. Since March 2020, many on-trade suppliers and venues in the UK have never managed to reopen to the point where most late-night venues are now facing the prospect of closing permanently unless significant fiscal support from the government is in place by the end of March. As a result, many businesses are faced with the prospect of having to destroy large quantities of stock due to their consume-by dates having been reached or even passed. However, it is not just the retail points in the on- and off-trades that have been affected, but the brand owners too. “The tap can’t just be turned off as forecasting the supply to the consumer market is done years in

Rome City moves forward on body cam purchase

ROME CITY — Rome City police officers will soon be equipped with body cameras, becoming the latest Noble County department to add the technology. After waiting a month and getting one additional quote from a vendor, not much changed from February as Marshal Paul Hoffman suggested the town go with a system from WOLFCOM. The WOLFCOM camera system was the cheapest of the three vendors Hoffman priced, and is well-known in the law enforcement field as the company provides cameras to more than 1,500 police agencies. All other Noble County departments have cameras too. Cromwell just recently purchased cameras but has not put them into use yet.

wolfpeach restaurant owners switch to temporary BBQ pop-up

CAMDEN Restaurants operating in a pandemic have had to make enormous changes in order to stay afloat. Gabriela Acero and Derek Richard, a couple featured in our recent story “ wolfpeach, a new chophouse with a Maine twist, to open in Camden,” have reviewed their original restaurant plans under these circumstances. Their restaurant, wolfpeach, has not yet opened. Instead, they have decided to kick off their grand opening this spring as a barbeque joint until the industry inches back to normal. “We knew that wolfpeach wasn’t going to work without doing indoor dining,” said Acero. “Originally, we planned on offering wolfpeach’s food as a take-out model, but we decided it would be more practical to offer modified barbeque takeout as a temporary placeholder until we feel it s truly safe to open for indoor dining.”
