The US and the European Commission have agreed to a four-month suspension of the retaliatory tariffs each implemented due to the long-running Airbus-Boeing trade dispute.
European commission president Ursula von der Leyen made the announcement on March 5 after speaking with US president Joe Biden on several topics, including its economic relationship.
“We both committed to focus on resolving our aircraft disputes, based on the work our respective trade representatives. This is excellent news for businesses and industries on both sides of the Atlantic, and a very positive signal for our economic cooperation in the years to come,” von der Leyen said in a statement.

India signed major trade and defence deals with Mauritius on Monday. During External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to the island nation, the two sides signed a free trade agreement (FTA) or CECPA the first such pact with any African country.
During a joint press statement, S Jaishankar, said, India is privileged to have entered into a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement (CECPA) with Mauritius. It will provide a timely boost for the revival of our post-Covid economies and also enable Indian investors to use Mauritius as a launch-pad for business expansion into continental Africa helping the prospect of Mauritius emerging as a ‘hub of Africa’.
