Ugly scenes outside parliament as PTI, PML-N trade blows

Narrow Coffee & Nosh fills a need in Newton

I’m leaning toward being selfish and not telling anyone about Narrow Coffee & Nosh on North College Avenue in downtown Newton, but I promised owner Marisa Belanger I’d write this story if she’d let me interview her. It’s not like a lot of people don’t already know about the little place next to Callahan’s Café, in a space that used to open into Callahan’s when, many years ago, Callahan’s was Moretz Department Store, and the part that’s now Marisa’s place was the store’s women’s and children’s section. Word of mouth and social media already have spread the news about Marisa’s great coffee and delicious breakfast and lunch offerings, so I’m likely not sharing breaking news here, but, just the same, I’d like to keep the place just a little bit of a secret so there’s always room for me to sit and enjoy a truly delicious cup of coffee.

A year after COVID-19 transformed life in Wisconsin, pandemic toll widespread

DAVID WAHLBERG A cascade of coronavirus cases and cancellations washed over Wisconsin and the Madison area a year ago this week, upending life for everyone and ushering in a state of physical distancing, economic downturn and unprecedented deaths for which the end may be near but remains unclear. At the beginning of the second week of March last year, the state had reported only one case of COVID-19, a Dane County resident who tested positive more than a month earlier after returning from China. A second case was confirmed that Monday and a third on Tuesday. By Friday, March 13, the total was 19 cases, suggesting community spread, first suspected in the U.S. near Seattle, may have come here.

Your Town: March 7, 2021

Yes, I understand how frustrating it was for you this past week. We had you trained on a daily basis to look for the COVID-19 numbers, published at the top of page one, on the right-hand side, and then suddenly poof! They weren’t there anymore. Where are the numbers? Many of you called asking, after flipping through the newspaper several times, searching but not finding. When Mesa County Health Department stopped sending its daily report at the end of February, The Daily Sentinel followed suit and stopped publishing daily updates. No, that doesn’t mean COVID has “stopped.” Not by any means.
