WELCOME TO OUR first anniversary month of the New Normal.
It was in mid-March of last year when the world as we knew it changed after Gov. Chris Sununu imposed his Stay-at-Home emergency orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
I recall interviewing Conway Village Fire Chief Steve Solomon and asking about precautions. When he mentioned PPE, I had to ask what those now all-too-familiar letters stood for: Personal Protection Equipment, something I didnât have a clue about but which, like everyone, I now am familiar with, along with wearing a mask in public as a requirement of daily life for most of us who recognize the perils of this deadly virus (outside of those naysayers who choose to believe in political ideology rather than science, putting the rest of us in jeopardy, but I digress).

Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio has wasted no time in making his mark on their current roster. With the NFL salary cap set to plateau, Caserio has been decisive and somewhat ruthless in his cuts so far, axing key players such as center Nick Martin and running back Duke Johnson.
And more, we think, are coming.
With some predicting a ‘massacre’ of cuts around the league as a result of the salary cap situation, it’s time to look at other potential cap casualties amongst the remaining Texans.
FRYEBURG, Maine â Local snowmobile rental outfitters agree that demand for snow machines has been way up over past years, once the snow arrived.
âFor the end of January and February, we pretty much sold out every weekend and midweek has also been good,â said Michael Scontas of Northeast Snowmobile & ATV Rentals of Gorham and Fryeburg (northeastsnowmobile.com; 800-458-1838).
âThis Saturday and Sunday, we are booking 100 percent and expect it to continue to be strong as March moves along but we are facing the possibility of a quick warmup next week so after this weekend we will continue to play it by ear,â he added.
The Hermiston Walmart is working on a remodel of the store that is expected to be complete in early summer 2021.
According to the company, the remodel has already added new flooring and will eventually include new signage and paint for better line of sight and easier navigation, expansion of some departments including beer and wine, expansion of the online grocery service and remodeled restrooms.
A final completion date will be announced when it gets closer.
