Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, several residents have faced hard times and food insecurity. Many groups, including the Hazard-Perry County Community Service Group, have stepped up and continued to provide for people in need, along with community partners. Becky Stacy, the administration and advocacy director of Appalachian Early Childhood Network, presented at the Feb. 24 Rotary Club meeting. During her presentation, Stacy told club members about her work with the Hazard-Perry County Community Service Group in hopes of gaining additional support.
âI taught kindergarten for many, many years. One of the things we made sure we did was try to teach them to have a heart for serving,â said Stacy, explaining that as a teacher, she had students fill Blessing Boxes in the community, raise donations for the Hope House Homeless Shelter and collect donations for care packages to give to patients at local medical facilities.

BOONE COUNTY - The modified health order in Boone County starts on Thursday at noon for restaurants, bars and entertainment venues.Â
The new order lets all Boone County businesses return to their normal operating hours. The previous order restricted bars and restaurants serving alcohol to close at midnight.Â
As with the previous health orders, there is no official capacity on restaurants, bars and retail shops. Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services  Public information specialist explained those capacities are determined by social distancing. Bars and restaurants still need to make sure that they re maintaining what we call a social distancing occupancy, Sara Humm said. That means making sure they re practicing social distancing between groups and tables and making sure they have space in their restaurant or bar to be able to do that. Â

United States, Eswatini, and Taiwan Identify and Create Partnership Opportunities
The embassies of the United States and Taiwan in the Kingdom of Eswatini partnered with the Government of Eswatini to host a virtual Partnership Opportunity Delegation. The virtual delegation included business leaders from the United States and Taiwan who met with Eswatini Minister of Commerce Manqoba Khumalo. The event featured U.S. Ambassador [Designate] to Eswatini Jeanne Maloney, Taiwan Ambassador to Eswatini Jeremy Liang, the U.S. State Department’s Managing Director for Global Partnerships Thomas Debass, and Prosper Africa’s Managing Director for Africa Operations Brinton Bohling.
