George Floyd death: Take the knee Southend event planned

A MASS take the knee event will be held in Southend tomorrow to combat institutional racism. Trade union Unison and Southend Council are supporting National Take the Knee Event tomorrow in the wake of anti-racism protests following George Floyd s death in the USA last year. It is the one-year anniversary of Mr Floyd s death tomorrow. A spokesman for Southend Council said: Southend residents responded and showed solidarity in their 1000s on the day last year and continued to show solidarity by supporting weekly take the knee events, circles of peace and the recent International Day of antiracism in which the town went purple and an over 40-strong public meeting was held online.

FG: Legislative, Judiciary Workers Strike May End Tomorrow

A statement signed by the Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr. Charles Akpan said the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige has appealed to the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El- Rufai; President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba as well as President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Rasheed Olawale to immediately ceasefire.

Attahiru: NASS told to probe military plane crashes

Daily Post Nigeria Published Mr Peter Esele, a former ally of Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, says the National Assembly should probe the causes of recent military plane crashes in the country. Esele, a former president of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin, on Saturday, while reacting to the death of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and other top military officers in a plane crash. He noted that Friday’s military plane crash was the third this year, with a total of 20 lives lost so far.
