COURT: Worcester Magistrates Court A NUMBER of businesses have been fined for the offence of failing, when asked by police, to give information on the identity of a driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence. Guru Midland Motors were asked in Droitwich on October 16 to provide the information related to the driver of a BMW, but failed to do so, magistrates heard. No one from the firm was present at Worcester Magistrates Court when the case was heard on January 6, so the offence was proved in absence. The firm, of Vicarage Road, Halesowen, was fined £660, and told to pay a victim surcharge of £66, and court costs of £110.

AN Anti-Semitic Worcester pensioner who compared the BBC to ‘Nazis’ and ranted at ‘idiot’ city police has been spared jail. BBC-bothering James Evans, who has mental health issues, had already been served with a restraining order which prohibited him from contacting BBC Hereford and Worcester in Hylton Road and the city’s MP, Robin Walker. However, he began breaching the order yet again from April 8 last year, sending BBC Hereford and Worcester nearly 200 letters. When arrested he described police as ‘helpless idiots’. The 74-year-old of Bath Road, Worcester already had five convictions for breaching the order when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday.
SICK: Gary Piggott told the court he was self-isolating with suspected Covid A SUSPECTED paedophile accused of sexually abusing a boy of 12 missed court because he was self-isolating with suspected Covid-19. Gary Piggott of Lupin Walk, Evesham faces multiple charges including the sexual assault of a boy under 13 (aged 12). The 38-year-old was due at Worcester Magistrates Court today but contacted the court to say he was self-isolating because of suspected Covid-19. In total he faces eight charges including four of assaulting a boy under 13 years which are said to have taken place between May 29 and May 30 last year. He also faces two charges of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a boy under 13 and two of inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity, offences also alleged to have taken place between May 29 and Mau 30 last year.
While the coronavirus pandemic may have meant being cooped up at home, that hasn’t always been the case for criminals of Worcestershire. These are some of the people who were thrown before the courts for spitting at police officers in 2020.

Paul Biddle Biddle, a father of three, who spat at police officers and told them he hoped they would die of coronavirus was jailed. Biddle put his head in his hands as he learned his fate during the Worcester Crown Court sentencing for four counts of assaulting emergency workers, and for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
