Dakota College to hold state Arbor Day celebration

Annually Dakota College at Bottineau celebrates Earth Day. This year the celebration we be held in a different manner as they have been recognized as a 2019 Tree Campus USA(r). The Tree Campus USA program honors colleges and universities for effective campus forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals.
The state Arbor Day celebration will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 on the grounds of Dakota College at Bottineau, one of North Dakota s four Tree Campus Higher Education campuses. The event will take place on the lawn just south of Old Main. The event will begin at 10:00 AM, with a ceremony featuring current State Forester Thomas Claeys, former State Forester Larry Kotchman, and Campus Dean Dr. Jerry Migler. A tree planting and refreshments will follow the ceremony. All are invited to join and celebrate.

CARBONDALE, Ill. Southern Illinois University Carbondale celebrates Earth Day 2021 today, April 22, by awarding thousands of dollars in grants to a wide variety of “green” initiatives that include recycling projects, bike trails and wind turbines.
Sustainability program officials announced the award of $37,428 in Green Fund grants to 11 sustainability projects.
“We are so pleased to see such a variety of proposals coming from across campus. The commitment and creativity behind these projects is evident,” said Karen Schauwecker, sustainability program coordinator. “The proposals are truly an example of what it looks like when our community envisions and creates a greener, more sustainable campus.”
Local credit union ranks 62nd most financially sound in United States

Community South Credit Union ($162 million) was recently ranked the 62nd most financially stable credit union in the country by S&P Global Market Intelligence. The Panhandle Florida-based financial institution was measured against 1,727 credit unions above $100 million in assets using five metrics: member growth, average loans per member, net worth as a percentage of total assets, delinquent loans as a percentage of total loans, and return on average assets.
(PPP loans were excluded from calculations).
“We are extremely honored to be ranked as one of the top credit unions in the country for financial stability and growth,” said CEO Jan Page. “Recognition like this gives me confidence that we’ve been doing right by our members, even during tough economic times like 2020, and establishing a strong foundation for the future.”
