Oklahoma Demands Larger Payout In Opioid Lawsuit With Johnson & Johnson

Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter is appealing last year s ruling. According to the Oklahoman, AG Hunter is asking the State Supreme Court to order Johnson and Johnson to pay more than $9 billion to fight the deadly opioid crisis. During the historic trial, Hunter and his team fought for a settlement worth more than $17 billion. But, the Cleveland County Judge over the case claimed the state didn t prove how much time and money it would take - after the first year - to take on the epidemic. The Judge ordered the pharmaceutical giant to pay $465 million. If they can t have the $9 billion, the state is reportedly asking for Johnson and Johnson to pay $465 million a year, for twenty years, or until the crisis is fixed.
