Private companies will be able to bring and sell liquefied natural gas (LNG) to consumers of their choice by April this year, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar told a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
He said that Pakistan had fully implemented the third-party access policy in order to utilise the idle capacity of LNG terminals with the help of private companies.
In this regard, the cabinet on Tuesday approved the allocation of LNG terminal and pipeline capacity on a three-month rolling basis to the private sector for LNG import and marketing.

LAHORE: Around 1800 petrol pumps were sealed out of 2600 petrol pumps which were identified as illegal by the Custom officials in a move against oil smugglers across the country.
According to the documents available with The News, petrol worth Rs419,905,013 has been seized from these illegal petrol pumps while diesel worth Rs534,718,502 was also seized by the Custom officials.
In Punjab, more than 1600 petrol pumps were identified as illegal and more than 1000 petrol pumps sealed by the Custom officials with cooperation of districts administrations concerned. Petrol worth Rs2, 595, 291 and diesel worth Rs3,126,133 has been seized by the Custom officials in the province.
The delay in conducting a study has disrupted the government’s plan to increase margins of dealers and oil marketing companies (OMCs) on sale of petroleum products.

After oil prices, consumers are set to face another setback as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has increased prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs10 per kilogram.
The price of domestic LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs122 and commercial cylinder by Rs471 following the hike in LPG prices. Domestic cylinder will now be available at Rs1,863 and commercial cylinder at Rs7,168. Ogra hiked LPG price by Rs8,870 per ton for LPG producer companies. The LPG price in the international market jumped to $574 per ton against $536 previously, causing an increase in domestic prices of LPG.
