Logs from subsequent testing showed the discovery well flowed at a rate of 1.15 million cubic feet of gas per day and 680 barrels per day of condensate from the Lower Goru formation, through a 0.5-inch choke.
“The discovery of Sial-1 is the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company,” OGDCL said in Tuesday’s statement.
“It has opened a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of OGDCL, its joint venture partners and of the country. It will also contribute in reducing the supply and demand gap of oil and gas in the country through the exploration and exploitation of indigenous resources.”
KARACHI: The Oil & Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) announced on Wednesday that the joint venture of Baratai Block comprising OGDC as operator (97.5 per cent) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Oil & Gas Company Limited (2.5pc) has discovered gas and condensate from its exploratory well Siab-1 located in District Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The company said that the structure of Siab-1 was drilled and tested using OGDC’s in-house expertise.
The well was drilled down to the depth of 5,500 meters.
Based on open hole logs data, the well was tested at rate of 1.6m standard cubic feet per day of gas and 12 barrels per day condensate through 32/64” choke at well-head flowing pressure of 190 pounds per square inch from Samanasuk Formation.

China-proposed China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has intensified Baloch deprivation
At the time of independence, Khan of Kalat-the largest of the four principalities of Balochistan, wanted to cede to the Indian Union but Jinnah’s treachery resulted in its merger with Pakistan. Balochis have been fighting since then for their freedom from Pakistan.

Pakistan Army commanders deployed in Bangladesh had unleashed hell on locals – rape and torture of women and wanton killing of intellectuals. The evil force was defeated and ninety-five thousand were taken prisoners by India. To suppress the Baloch freedom struggle, Pakistan deployed those war-returned commanders who unleashed their pent-up anger and frustrati
