Volvo said in conjunction with the tentative agreement, the UAW has ended its strike against the NRV plant, effective 7:00 a.m. on April 30, 2021. Production will resume on Monday, May 3, 2021. Further comment on the proposed agreement is being withheld pending ratification by the members of UAW Local #2069. Ratification meetings are being scheduled by the UAW.

Volvo said only that a tentative agreement was reached on a new five-year contract to replace a pact of the same length that expired on March 16. It declined comment on the deal until a ratification vote by the 2,900 affected rank-and-file workers.

Talks between Volvo Trucks North America and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union at Volvo s New River Valley (NRV) truck assembly plant are continuing, both groups told  CCJ Thursday evening.  UAW Local 2069 workers in Dublin, Virginia, went on strike Saturday, April 17, following the lapse of a 30-day extension to a five-year contract that expired March 15. Negotiation between the two groups kicked off this week.  Volvo Trucks North America Corporate Communications Manager John Mies confirmed that negotiations are ongoing, but declined further comment out of respect to continuing nature of discussion.
