Dublin – Volvo Trucks North America announced Friday that the company and the United Auto Workers union reached a tentative agreement on the terms of a new five-year contract that would cover approximately 2,900 employees at the New River Valley (NRV) truck assembly operations in Dublin, VA.
Volvo said in conjunction with the tentative agreement, the UAW has ended its strike against the NRV plant, effective 7:00 a.m. on April 30, 2021. Production will resume on Monday, May 3, 2021.
Further comment on the proposed agreement is being withheld pending ratification by the members of UAW Local #2069. Ratification meetings are being scheduled by the UAW.

The United Auto Workers union ended a 13-day strike Friday at Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA), clearing the way for production to resume Monday at the Swedish truck makers’s only North American manufacturing facility.
Volvo said only that a tentative agreement was reached on a new five-year contract to replace a pact of the same length that expired on March 16. It declined comment on the deal until a ratification vote by the 2,900 affected rank-and-file workers.

UAW Local 2069 workers in Dublin, Virginia, went on strike Saturday, April 17, following the lapse of a 30-day extension to a five-year contract that expired March 15. Negotiation between the two groups kicked off this week.
Volvo Trucks North America Corporate Communications Manager John Mies confirmed that negotiations are ongoing, but declined further comment out of respect to continuing nature of discussion.
