Both Mbewe and the association’s General Secretary (GS), Prophet Lex Kalolo, confirmed the development in separate interviews on Wednesday.
Mbewe – who heads Living Word Evangelical Church (LIWEC) – had earlier resigned from his position to take up a similar position at Freedom of Worship Association of Malawi (FWAM).

Nyasa Times on Friday that after thoughtful discussions, the association resolved to reinstate the LIWEC founder and overseer.

Prophetic Ministries Association of Malawi (PROMAM) general secretary Prophet Lex Kalolo, has dismissed assertions that there is a leadership crisis in the association, clarifying that its president Prophet David Mbewe voluntarily resigned to take up a similar position at another faith institution.

Nyasa Times after the meeting for religious leaders on Covid-19, which Malawi Interfaith Aids Association (MIAA) organised in conjunction with the Malawi Network of People Living with HIV and Aids (MANET+), Kalolo disclosed that Mbewe, of Living Word Evangelistic Church, is now leading the Freedom of Worship Association of Malawi (FWAM).

The Living Word Evangelistic Church (LIWEC) has cancelled the performance of a renowned Nigerian worshipper Jimmy D Psalmist which was scheduled to take place on December 31, 2020 in Blantyre during a crossover service.
According to a press statement seen by this publication, the decision to cancel the performance was reached due to new Covid-19 restrictions that have been put in place by the Presidential taskforce on Covid-19.
âIt has been very difficult to finalize a contract with the renowned artist due to unfavorable circumstances that have been imposed by the Covid-19 Taskforce recently,â read part of the statement.
