A Tennessee man was arrested at around 11:55 p.m. Thursday at a home on West Second Street after he allegedly assaulted and choked his girlfriend, according to a Hopkinsville Police
A Hopkinsville man was arrested during a burglary on Eagle Way Thursday afternoon.
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called to Living Hope Baptist Church for a burglary in progress.
As they arrived, 33-year-old Shawn Gilkey was reportedly seen coming out of a side door.
Deputies say Gilkey entered the building through a basement door and took three tablets from the church. He reportedly gave deputies his brother’s name and date of birth claiming it was his.
Gilkey is charged with second-degree burglary and giving officers false identifying information.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man Thursday after he allegedly broke into Living Hope Baptist Church.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to reports of a burglary in progress at the church on the Eagle Way Bypass around 1:40 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, they discovered 33-year old Shawn Gilkey exiting out of a door way. Investigation determined he had made entry to the building through a basement door.
When deputies asked for his name, Gilkey allegedly gave them his brother’s name and birthdate instead of his own.
