MFA issues clarification regarding repatriation process of migrant workers

Friday, 08 January 2021 - 16:13 Releasing a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that they will facilitate the repatriation without any financial burden on Sri Lankans.  Free of charge Foreign Secretary Jayanath Colombage clarified that the role of the Missions is strictly confined to organizing repatriation flights for returnees who are tested on arrival, offered all logistical support, and are quarantined at Government facilities free of charge. Explaining further, they stated the returnees are drawn from the list of overseas Sri Lankans registered in the Missions and Posts and repatriated depending on their vulnerability levels and on a “first come first serve basis“.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar and comprising Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan, was hearing the plea, which stated that the Dunkin Donuts franchise at the airport was sent a bill worth Rs4.4 million on account of water, electricity and gas consumption between February and August.

Section 144 imposed around airport

Section 144 imposed around airport National January 8, 2021 PESHAWAR: On the request of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Deputy Commissioner Peshawar has imposed section 144 in areas surrounding Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar to prevent any mishap. According to a notification issued here Thursday, the ban has been imposed on pigeon flying, aerial firing, kite flying and use of drone camera and laser light in the areas which are close to the airport. The ban has been imposed on pigeon shops, use of high beams laser lights at any shop or advertisement board which can be detrimental to landing or taking off of a plane at the Airport. The violators of the ban would be dealt under section 188.
