Ghana has recorded 65 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 1,600 as of Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
The total cumulative case count stands at 92,951.
An update from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), indicates that four more persons have succumbed to the disease bringing the death toll to 783.
The number of persons who have recovered or been discharged from the illness is now 90,568 with 24 persons in severe condition and 6 others in critical condition.
Also, out of 249,444 tests conducted on international travellers who arrived in the country, 1,657 persons tested positive.
The country has vaccinated about 850,000 persons with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

ISLAMABAD: The first batch of over 1.2 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines reached the country on Saturday under the Covax scheme as another 120 people fell victim to the virus.
On the other hand, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) has notified a formula to fix prices of Covid-19 vaccines.
Meanwhile, all educational institutions in the country will remain closed till May 23, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has announced.
As Pakistan continues to witness over 100 Covid-related deaths daily for a couple of weeks now, a research centre in Karachi on Saturday expressed concern that there was a high possibility that the variant that has claimed thousands of lives in India has already reached Pakistan since the diasporas of the two countries interact closely in Gulf states.

Islamabad, 8 May 2021 – Today Pakistan received its first shipment of Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines (SII-AZ AZD1222) from the COVAX Facility.
The consignment of 1 238 400 doses of vaccines, which will be followed by another of 1 236 000 in a few days, will support the Government of Pakistan s ongoing historic drive to bring the pandemic to an end. Further allocations from June onwards will be confirmed in due course. The goal of the COVAX Facility is to supply Pakistan with enough doses to vaccinate 20% of the population depending on availability.
