In Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the immunisation programme via video call on Wednesday afternoon through the inoculation of a nurse and 24 others at the Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka.
The vaccination registration process through mobile app and web application Surokkha will also be launched in the ceremony. All who are willing to be inoculated have to register for their doses of the vaccine.
According to officials, health workers and other frontliners would be vaccinated first on priority basis. However, they have not taken any step to prepare a list of the elderly and adults suffering from long-term diseases who are most vulnerable to Covid-19.
Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Rajshahi divisional director of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said civil surgeons, administrations and local government officials are likely to complete a list comprising health workers within a few days. Then they will prepare another list with other frontliners, including law enforcers and journalists, he added.
They said the government is launching a smartphone app at the end of this month for people to get registered for vaccination.

Rice Partners (Pvt) Ltd (RPL) in collaboration with Helvetas Pakistan organized a preventive vaccination campaign for rice transplanter s families in three villages namely Kot Hanif, Khatyala Virkan and Saikham of different district of Punjab including Sheikhupura, Chief Operating Officer Rice Partners Pvt Ltd, Muhammad Ali Tariq said Sunday.
He said that approximately 200 persons participated in the campaign.
