It’s worth noting that there are actually two versions of the Denon AVC-X4700H in the wild. The UK/EU iteration reviewed here (£1449/€1549), is an amplifier without an FM tuner, hence its AVC prefix. The US version ($1799) is a classic AV receiver (AVR), with FM radio.

While more TVs are poised to get HDMI 2.1 features this year, understanding how those features are implemented on each display can be overwhelming. From a consumer standpoint, it’s frustrating as hell! And companies should frankly be doing more to make the process feel less arduous.

With the announcement of HDMI 2.1, many monitors are quickly adopting the HDMI 2.1 ports to reap all the benefits that the display functionality offers. This past week Acer announced its own 4K HDMI 2.1 gaming monitor with the Nitro XV282K KV. LG has now followed suit by unveiling the LG27GP950. The 27-inch UltraGear 4K UHD Nano IPS Gaming monitor is an upgrade from the previous generation LG2727GN950 with HDMI 2.1 allowing the monitor to enable more enhanced features.

HDMI LA will be participating in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021 and will be hosting content and a webcast providing a detailed update on the status of HDMI technology and HDMI 2.1 in the marketplace. HDMI, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of consumer electronics, personal computers, mobile devices, cables and components, said that over the three years after the launch of the HDMI Specification Version 2.1, most of the products that are now widely available support HDMI 2.1 features. These include 4K at 120 Hz, 8K at 60 Hz, Dynamic HDR and eARC.
