The coronavirus pandemic raging across India over 200,000 people tested positive for the virus on Friday is threatening to disrupt the preparations of India s Olympic contenders. With less than 100 days to go for the start of the Tokyo Olympics, those in or around the squads have contracted the virus, preparatory camps and tournaments are being rescheduled and the officials in charge of logistics are looking at tweaking their biosecurity protocols.

India government says it will supply around 17,000 MT of oxygen to states worst-hit by COVID-19
New Delhi: (Reuters) The Indian government said on Friday it will supply 17,092 MT of medical oxygen in a dozen states where the virus is surging, including Maharashtra and capital city of Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked state to source medical oxygen from industrial plants, as supplies across the country have fallen short of meeting a demand surge due to a record-increase in COVID-19 infections.

New Delhi: Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Secretary General Rajeev Mehta on Wednesday informed that the vaccination process for the Olympic-bound athletes will start soon in the country.
“We will start the vaccination process soon so that our athletes are safe. A lot is invested in them and we want to be sure that they are safe,” said Mehta during an online seminar organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and IOA on the occasion of 100 days to the Olympics.
