DHORDO (Gujarat): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday interacted with farmers from Kutch district of Gujarat, including those from Punjab who have settled here, and also members of a local self-help group (SHG).
The separate interactions took place on the sidelines of an event where Modi, on a day-long visit to Gujarat, laid foundation stones for a host of projects in the border district.
Highlights
PM Modi during his visit to Gujarat s Kutch said that the state has introduced many farmer-friendly schemes over the last 2 decades. The agriculture, dairy and fisheries sectors have prospered in Gujarat over the last two decades, noted PM Modi.
PM Modi stated that one has to keep changing with the times and embrace global best practices.
Kutch: Amid the ongoing farmers protests against the new farm laws on the borders of the national capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (December 15, 2020) said that the agriculture reforms are exactly what the farmer bodies and the opposition parties have been asking for years.

As the ongoing farmers protest continued for the 20th day on Tuesday, Union Agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the government is ready discuss the three farm laws clause by clause by if the protesting farmers respond to amendments proposed by the government. We have said that we are ready for the talks. The government will definitely do it if their (farmer unions ) proposal comes.We want the discussions to be held clause by clause. They will give their opinion on our proposal, we will definitely hold further talks, he said.

As the protests by farmers against the Centre s three agri laws at the borders of Delhi continue for the 20th day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday alleged that the Opposition parties were spreading falsehoods and misleading farmers and said his government is addressing the farmers concerns.
