West Michigan Whitecaps come up short to Great Lakes Loons in 7-4 loss

West Michigan Whitecaps logo COMSTOCK PARK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) It was close, but a rally came up short Sunday afternoon for the West Michigan Whitecaps as they fell 7-4 to the Great Lakes Loons. The Whitecaps trailed 5-0 after five innings but battled back scoring four runs over in the 6th and 7th. Bryant Packard’s first 2021 home run before the Loons’ Deacon Liput stroked a two-run single to provide much-needed insurance for Great Lakes. The loss gives the Loons a 4-2 series victory, as West Michigan missed an opportunity to collect a series split. The Whitecaps head west to face the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to open six-game series beginning Tuesday at 7:35 pm. The Whitecaps send pitcher Garrett Hill to the mound Wisconsin pitcher Justin Jarvis.

By Jim Scott May 14, 2021 | 7:54 AM PEORIA, IL – The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers had another late lead against the Peoria Chiefs at Dozer Park on Thursday night.  The Chiefs had another night where they rallied late to beat the Timber Rattlers, this time by a 3-2 score with the tying and winning runs scoring in very different ways. David Hamilton put the Timber Rattlers (5-4) up in the third inning with a two-out, RBI single to center to score Chad McClanahan from second base.  The Rattlers were denied an opportunity to add on in the inning when right fielder Alec Burleson made a diving grab of Hayden Cantrelle’s sinking liner for the third out.

Timber Rattlers let lead slip away, lose in 10 to Peoria

By Jim Scott May 13, 2021 | 6:41 AM PEORIA, IL –  The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers looked great building a 7-0 lead through 2-1/2 innings at Dozer Park on Wednesday night against the Peoria Chiefs.  They took a 7-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh.  Then, errors, walks, and other miscues let the Chiefs back into the game and Peoria eventually celebrated a 9-8 win in ten innings over the Rattlers. Wisconsin (5-3) took the early lead with three runs in the first inning.  Korry Howell started the game with a single and David Hamilton followed with a single to put runners on the corners.  Gabriel García was next and he drove in Howell with a single to center for a 1-0 lead.
