UPDATE: Lockdown lifted at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, patient taken into custody

UPDATE (6:05 p.m.) - The San Luis Obispo Police Department has identified the person who was arrested at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center on Friday as Daniel Marcom, a 51-year-old transient from San Luis Obispo.
Police say Marcom became angry with another patient with whom he was sharing a room, brandished a knife, and threatened him. Police say he also threatened the doctor that was treating him and uttered racial epithets at both victims.
Marcom was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and brandishing a knife. He is in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
San Luis Obispo County welcomes the first babies of 2021

French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo welcomed its first baby of the year, a baby girl named Emmie Rafaela Hernandez. She arrived at 1:11 p.m. on New Year’s Day weighing eight pounds and at 20.5 inches long.
Christina Sanchez and Julio Hernandez are overjoyed with their new bundle of joy. Emmie is the third daughter for the couple, who are also parents to Myla and Mia Hernandez.
“We are grateful to have the first baby of the year at French Hospital,” Sanchez said. “The great thing about babies is that they are like little bundles of hope; like the future in a basket.”
