Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has expressed confidence in Ministry of Health’s (MOH) capacity to inoculate the population and safely store the Covid-19 vaccine.
Speaking during the flag off of the countrywide distribution of Covid-19 vaccine, CS kagwe assured Kenyans that “nothing has been left to chance.”
“Over the last decade, the government has scaled up coverage of immunisation services from 50 per cent to more than 90 per cent of health facilities through procurement and installation of specialised vaccine storage equipment in over 5,000 health facilities,” said the CS.

Kenya has recorded 194 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, shooting the national tally of positive cases to 104,500. The numbers come from a sample size of 3,935 bringing the total number of tests conducted to 1,273,281 accounting for 2.6 per cent of the population.
Of the cases, 146 are Kenyans while 48 are foreigners.
Statistics from the Ministry of Health (MOH) also show that 39 patients have recovered from the disease, three from the Home-Based Care Program, while 36 have been discharged from various hospitals. This increases the cumulative recoveries to 74,403.
Sadly, 10 patients have succumbed to the virus bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 1,837.
Kenya on Tuesday recorded 153 more coronavirus, bringing the total infections registered in the country since the outbreak of the disease in March 2020 to 101,009.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement that the new cases were from a sample size of 3,922, taking the cumulative tests in the country to 1,192,605.
From the new cases, 123 of the patients are Kenyans while 30 are foreigners, with 91 being male while 62 are females. The oldest is a one-year-old child and the oldest is 80 years old.
Mr Kagwe further said 54 patients recovered from the coronavirus – 35 being from the Home-Based Care Program while 19 were discharged from various hospitals – taking total recoveries to 83,990.

Kenya has recorded 85 more Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours raising the total caseload to 99,983.
Unfortunately, 4 fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,744.
In a statement on Sunday, January 24, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 2,985 samples had been tested over the period. The country has so far conducted 1,156,106 Covid-19 tests.
Of the positive cases, 46 are male and 39 are female. The youngest is a one-year-old child while the oldest is 88 years.
