Tue, 04/20/2021 - 2:00pm tim by Devon Green, Vice President of Government Relations, VAHHS Last week, the House Government Operations Committee took testimony on S.48. The Interstate Nurse Licensure Compact is an important health care workforce initiative and a key recommendation from the Rural Health Services Task Force 2020 Report. Oregon bill to give OHA control over mergers and acquisitions passes out of committee - State of Reform

Oregon bill to give OHA control over mergers and acquisitions passes out of committee Patrick Jones | Apr 19, 2021 Share this: House Bill 2362 recently passed out of the House Health Care Committee on a party line vote. The bill would require health care providers and hospitals to obtain permission from the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) before any merger, acquisition or affiliation transactions.       The bill also creates an advisory board for the OHA to help determine the usefulness and validity of the merger. No more than one-third of the board’s members may be representatives of health care providers and hospitals. This allows for the community, those who it mainly affects, to have a voice on these transactions.

Oregon Mandatory Gun Storage Bill Advances

(AP Photo/Jeff Roberson, File) Gun storage is a good idea. It not just protects your guns from theft, it also protects any potentially curious hands that might be floating around your house. Few people think a good gun safe is a bad investment, after all. What we tend to object to, though, is being told not just to store our guns, but how we should store them. The mandatory storage laws–often termed “safe storage,” despite there being nothing safe about them–are an anathema to our Second Amendment rights. Another gun regulation bill is headed for a legislative debate and vote, this time in the Oregon House.

An offense is a Class C violation, which carries a maximum fine of $500, unless someone under age 18 obtains access, in which case it is a Class A violation with a maximum fine of $2,000. No jail time is imposed for violations.
