Just days after being sworn into office, Rifle Republican Lauren Boebert has vaulted into the rarified pantheon of Colorado politicians who have found themselves the brunt of national comedians and satirists.
Boebert, a gun-rights activist and the owner of a Western Slope restaurant where the wait staff is armed, joins only a handful of the stateâs politicos who have drawn attention from late-night TV hosts and The Onion â though their ranks grew considerably over the last two years, when Coloradoâs two senators were both running for president.
Before 2019, the laughmeisters occasionally would cast a light on Coloradoâs political scene, usually to make a joke about legalized marijuana, though former Interior Secretary Ken Salazar was a favorite at The Onion for several years running, too.

WASHINGTON (KERO) â House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy spoke at a press conference Thursday expressing disappointment in the Biden Administration s first actions. I was disappointed to see within hours of assuming office, the new administration was more interested in helping illegal immigrants than helping our own citizens. Rep. McCarthy said.
McCarthy noted the Biden Administration s decision to focus on illegal immigrants, end the Keystone pipeline, and appease the WHO instead of helping businesses reopen and ensuring every American who wants a vaccine has access to one. McCarthy also called on Congress to step up.

One such tool is the Impoundment Control Act (ICA), which requires the President to identify unneeded unspent funds for Congress to rescind under expedited procedures. President Donald Trump has recently proposed 73 rescissions totaling $27.4 billion under the ICA.
What Is a Rescission?
Through appropriations acts, Congress provides federal agencies the ability to spend Treasury funds, called budget authority.REF This budget authority allows an agency to obligate funds throughout the fiscal year on an apportionment schedule dictated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The obligation is a commitment to spend funds, creating a liability on behalf of the government to make a payment. When the payment pursuant to the obligation is made, an outlay occurs.
