House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), flanked by his equally stony-faced picks for the Jan. 6 committee, railed at top volume against the “lame duck” Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for barring Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN) from serving.
Both Jordan and Banks and Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX), another McCarthy pick Pelosi said she’d allow voted against certifying the Electoral College vote in the aftermath of the insurrection. Pelosi also okayed Reps. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) and Rodney Davis (R-IL).

Minority Leader McCarthy’s decision was in response to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s rejection of two of McCarthy’s choices for the select committee to investigate the January 6th attack on the Capitol. Pelosi rejected Representatives Jim Banks of Indiana and Jim Jordan of Ohio. Congresswoman Cheney said the attack on the Capitol in January was the worst attack on the Capitol since 1814 and the American people deserve to know what happened on January 6th as it was an attack on our constitution.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday withdrew five Jan. 6 investigative committee nominees after Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected two of his chosen members.
Pelosi rejected Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Jim Banks of Indiana from the panel that will conduct investigations on the violent Capitol riot. The two nominees were known for adamantly defending former President Donald Trump. With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee, Pelosi said in a statement. “The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision.
