Plane from Georgia crashes into Michigan home killing 3 family members

A plane crash Saturday afternoon in Lyon Township, Michigan killed the former president of Metro Detroit’s home builders group, his wife and son and sparked a fire in the home they struck, according to the home builders association.
Plane owner David S. Compo an experienced, licensed pilot his wife Michele and their college-age son Dawson were killed in the crash when their private plane smashed into a home half a mile north of the New Hudson airport, the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan said late Saturday in a release.

LYON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) A small plane flying from Georgia crashed into a house in southeastern Michigan, killing the pilot and two family members.
The victims were David S. Compo, the former president of the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan, his wife Michele and their son Dawson, the association said in a news release.
Homebuilder s plane clipped tree before crashing into Lyon Twp. house, witness tells aviation authorities
Federal aviation officials are looking into a witness report that a private plane that crashed into a Lyon Township home on Saturday clipped a tree before striking the residence.
The plane was piloted by Northville homebuilder David S. Compo, who died along with his wife and son in the fiery crash. The home s occupants safely fled after the crash. We have a witness report that the plane struck a tree and then struck the house, said Peter Knudson, a spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board, on Sunday night. That’s the information we have. We don’t have any surveillance video to our knowledge.
