M20 closed in both directions as army bomb squad on scene

The M20 is being reopened after it was closed in both directions between Junctions 8 and 9 as an army bomb squad checked a suspect vehicle. A 27-year-old man from Wales was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police after a tactical contact ended a chase earlier today.  The army s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team attended the scene as a precautionary measure following concerns about the security of the man s car.  It was subsequently declared safe and removed from the carriageway. A spokesperson for Kent Police said: Shortly after 11.25am officers attempted to stop a vehicle travelling at excess speed on the M20 coastbound near Junction 12, according to police.
