Fillmore man charged with murder after shooting claims two in Santa Paula

Ventura County Sheriff s Office Kristian Fonseca, 22, of Fillmore SANTA PAULA, Calif. - The Ventura County District Attorney s Office reported that a Fillmore man has been charged with murder after he shot three Santa Paula men, killing two and wounding the third. 22-year-old Kristian Fonseca reportedly shot at the men on Oct. 24, 2020. Santa Paula police responded to the 200 block of Ventura Street around 10:13 p.m. where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One man, identified as Jose Estrada, was pronounced dead at the scene while the second, Daniel Zuniga, was transported to Ventura County Medical Center in critical condition.

  Ojai Valley News editor Ventura County Public Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin said the COVID-19 vaccine is set to arrive in Ventura County “almost certainly” Dec. 14, 15 or 16. “I am just pleased and relieved,” he said Dec. 12, of the imminent arrival of the vaccine. “Ninety-five percent efficacy is beyond belief,” he said. “It is too much to hope for. It’s wonderful, just wonderful.” Levin said the first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine in Ventura County will be by Pfizer-BioNTech, which requires super-cold refrigeration of -70 to -80 degrees. The Moderna vaccine will come to Ventura County later, he said. Long hoped for, 6,800 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are expected to arrive in Ventura County just as it is experiencing record numbers of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. “We are in the surge,” Levin said. “We hoped we would dodge it.”

Ventura man sentenced to six years in prison for killing Ventura County jail inmate Megan Diskin, Ventura County Star © CONTRIBUTED PHOTO/VENTURA COUNTY SHERIFF S OFFICE Daniel Luis Fuller A Ventura County jail inmate was sentenced to six years in prison Thursday for killing a fellow inmate.  Daniel Fuller, 36, of Ventura, pleaded guilty in October to involuntary manslaughter for the Sept. 11, 2018, killing of Jeffrey Kibler, 53 of Ventura, according to the Ventura County District Attorney s Office.  Kibler and Fuller were being housed in the same housing unit of the jail, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Melissa Suttner. Fuller and other inmates did not want Kibler in the quad with them so Fuller confronted Kibler one day, Suttner said. 

District Attorney sentences man in 2018 inmate death at Ventura County Jail

Daniel Louis Fuller, 36, of Ventura VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - Ventura County District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced Thursday that a man has been sentenced to six years in state prison for the 2018 death of a Ventura County Jail inmate. The DA s Office said, on Sept. 11, 2018, Daniel Louis Fuller and Jeffrey Kibler were both housed in the same quad at the jail. Fuller allegedly wanted Kibler to leave the quad and when Kibler refused to leave, Fuller punched him one time in the face before dragging him to the main quad door. According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, 53-year-old Kibler was rushed to the Ventura County Medical Center where he later died due to a ruptured spleen.
