A WEYMOUTH man has avoided jail after stealing fishing equipment worth more than £150 from The Range in Weymouth on the store s opening day. Geoffrey Brian Conquer, aged 49, of Lennox Street, admitted stealing fishing equipment and tools on April 30 to the value of £150.30 belonging to The Range, in New Bond Street, Poole Magistrates Court heard. Conquer committed the offence on the opening of The Range in Weymouth s town centre after the firm took over the former Debenhams building. He also admitted failing to attend Weymouth Magistrates Court on July 1. The defendant was sentenced to a 10-week prison sentence, which will be suspended for six months.
Weymouth Magistrates Court A CHEF has pleaded guilty to assault by beating after he pinched a 14-year-old boy s nipple with a pair of kitchen tongs. Michael Bright, aged 53, was working as a chef at a pub when he pinched the boy s nipple on December 3 last year, Weymouth Magistrates Court heard. Prosecuting, Richard Oakley told the court that the victim was also working at the premises at the time and was carrying some baking trays when Bright picked up a pair of tongs, grabbed his nipple and pulled it. The victim said it was very painful and left the area bruised for a week.
