At Least Three Dead In Latest Clashes Along Kyrgyz-Tajik Border

BISHKEK Clashes between local residents along a disputed segment of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border left at least three people dead in the volatile region before a truce was announced by both sides.
During the April 28-29 clashes three people were killed, including a 13-year-old girl, in the Leylek district of the Batken region, the Kyrgyz Health Ministry said, adding that at least 84 people were injured on the Kyrgyz side.
Police in Kyrgyzstan s southern region of Batken blamed Tajik citizens for the escalation, saying they started shooting at a military unit located in the village of Kok-Tash, while gunfire was also reported from the Tajik side near the Kyrgyz village of Ak-Sai.
ODIHR Director visiting Uzbekistan

U.S. Secretary of State to hold virtual talks with Central Asian Foreign Ministers
AKIPRESS.COM - Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will hold online meeting on Afghanistan with the Central Asian Foreign Ministers on April 23.
The Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are expected to partake in the meeting. The Foreign Ministers will discuss relevant aspects of regional policy, further cooperation between the Central Asian states and the United States in economy, ensuring securing in the region, climate change fight, bringing strong peace to Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office arrives in Uzbekistan
AKIPRESS.COM - The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Ann Linde arrived in Uzbekistan on a two-day visit as part of her Central Asian tour, Dunyo news agency reported.
The program of the visit includes bilateral talks in the Senate and Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan to discuss relevant aspects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and OSCE, as well as cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will receive Ann Linde during this visit.
