Bangladesh, June 2 State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said that 40 percent of electricity will come from renewable sources by 2041.
Such a strategy was adopted in the country s Power System Master Plan (PSMP), he said while addressing at the Bangladesh-UK Climate Partnership Roundtable on Tuesday in the city, said a press release of the ministry.
Nasrul Hamid mentioned that about 20 million rural people were brought under the electrification facilities through 5.8 million solar home systems (SHSs).

The US government is exploring the possibilities of producing vaccines in Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller has said.
He said this as he called on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam at the ministry today. They discussed ongoing cooperation between the two countries in combating Covid-19 pandemic, including providing vaccine for meeting Bangladesh s immediate needs.
Miller informed that the US government is working on the issue of vaccine supplies, and has recommended having a regional approach in South Asia in distributing vaccines from the US.
