Nasdaq-listed Atlassian Corporation Plc, team collaboration and productivity software provider, plans to hire more than 1,000 employees globally including 300 R&D engineers in India in 2021.
The company will recruit front-end and back-end engineers, with a focus on R&D engineers in India. With nearly 700 employees now, Atlassian’s R&D and customer support center at Bengaluru is looking to scale its operations.
Dinesh Ajmera, Site Lead and Head of Engineering, Bengaluru, Atlassian said: “We have invested in talent acquisition in India but the ongoing pandemic which has fuelled a sharp rise in team collaboration and productivity software, has added the need to bring in more talent. Globally, we’ve welcomed just short of 500 new Atlassians in the last quarter, mostly in R&D roles”.

With a raging pandemic potentially threatening their business prospects, Indian companies are putting extra efforts into employee retention.
In line with companies across the Asia Pacific region, Indian firms have increased their spending on employee engagement and wellbeing, and training and development, among other measures that can help in staff retention, according to a survey by LinkedIn. The increase in budget for current employees comes at a time when companies in the Asia Pacific region have cut hiring spends by around 30% due to an “uncertain business outlook,” the survey said.
The findings are based on a quantitative 20-minute online survey filled by over 3,500 small, medium, and large companies across Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore.

Q: My wife got interested in bitcoin while we were together. Over the last couple of years, she invested a lot of money into it. As far as I could tell, it was pretty successful. Now we have separated, I am not sure what happens next. I know we have to divide our property. Do I have to take half of the bitcoin? I am clueless about how bitcoin works so I do not know if that is what I want.

Young black people have been hit harder by unemployment in the United Kingdom over the course of the novel coronavirus pandemic than any other demographic, a study by the Resolution Foundation think tank has revealed.
Successive lockdowns have had a particularly large impact on sectors such as hospitality and leisure, where young people are more likely to be working. Within that group, racial divisions have emerged, with unemployment among young black people rising by more than 10 percent, to 35 percent.
U.S. retail sales rose by the most in 10 months in March as Americans received additional pandemic relief checks from the government and increased COVID-19 vaccinations allowed broader economic re-engagement, cementing expectations for robust growth in the first quarter.
