Police declared a major incident in a Devon town after reports of series of explosions.
They suspected it could be the result of a gas leak or electrical shortage.
The force received reports of the explosions under the road on Church Street in Kingsbridge shortly before midday on Thursday 21 January.
Update as of 5pm - no longer a major incident
Police have confirmed it is no longer a major incident. The cause has been confirmed as an isolated low-voltage cable and was not gas-related.
THE sudden death of a man in his 50s at a Trowbridge flat is not being treated as suspicious, Wiltshire Police confirmed late this afternoon. They were called out to a flat at Orchard Court just after 12.15pm today after being alerted to a smell of gas in the property. A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Following the sudden death of a man in his 50s at a property in Orchard Court earlier today we can now confirm that this is being treated as a medical episode and is not believed to be suspicious. “His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this sad time. A file will now be prepared for HM Coroner.
