Oregon woman bitten on foot by shark off Daytona Beach Shores
Orlando Sentinel 5/6/2021 David Harris, Orlando Sentinel
A 21-year-old woman from Oregon was bitten on the foot by a shark on Thursday morning in Daytona Beach Shores, according to officials.
Tamra Malphurs, the public information officer for Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue, said the woman was wading in about 4 feet of water when she was bit. She suffered non-life threatening lacerations and did not have to be taken to the hospital by ambulance, Malphurs said.
No one saw the shark.
It was the second bite of the year in Volusia County. The other one happened on April 30 off New Smyrna Beach when a woman on a paddle board was bit on the foot.
