The deceased, Shafayet, 35, was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, confirmed Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of the institute. With Shafayet, the death toll in the incident rose to five. Shafayet sustained 25 percent burn injuries including in his windpipe, the doctor said, adding that he succumbed around 7:30 am. Shafayet s father Delwar Hosen, 55, mother Layla Begum, 45, brother Shaker Hosen, 30, wife Mili Aktar, 25, and two-year old daughter Yashfa were also injured in the incident and are currently admitted at the same hospital.

Today, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmuda Akhter accepted the statement of case and fixed the date for submission of report. Earlier on Friday, Bangshal Police Station SI Mohammad Ali Sikder filed a case against eight. Another 10-15 unidentified persons were also made accused in the case.

The duo was put on life support at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery yesterday. Muna s sibling Junaid Sarkar, who is also receiving treatment at a city hospital, said Ashiquzzaman was at his in-laws house in Armanitola when the fire broke out.
