Another person burnt in the chemical storage fire in Dhaka s Armanitola on Friday, died this morning.
The deceased, Shafayet, 35, was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, confirmed Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of the institute.
With Shafayet, the death toll in the incident rose to five.
Shafayet sustained 25 percent burn injuries including in his windpipe, the doctor said, adding that he succumbed around 7:30 am.
Shafayet s father Delwar Hosen, 55, mother Layla Begum, 45, brother Shaker Hosen, 30, wife Mili Aktar, 25, and two-year old daughter Yashfa were also injured in the incident and are currently admitted at the same hospital.

Report against 8 in Old Dhaka fire incident on Jun 10

DHAKA, Apr 24, 2021 (BSS) – A Dhaka court has fixed June 10 for the submission of investigation report in the case filed against eight people, including the owner of the building ‘Haji Musa Mansion’ in Old Dhaka’s Armanitola and the chemical go-down owners, in connection with the deadly fire that broke out on Friday.
Today, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmuda Akhter accepted the statement of case and fixed the date for submission of report.
Earlier on Friday, Bangshal Police Station SI Mohammad Ali Sikder filed a case against eight. Another 10-15 unidentified persons were also made accused in the case.

Around one and a half months ago, Muna Sarkar and Ashiquzzaman Khan, both computer engineers by profession, tied the knot.
Before their wedding reception could be held, a devastating fire at chemical storage in the capital s Armanitola brought their lives to a near ending situation.
The duo was put on life support at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery yesterday.
Muna s sibling Junaid Sarkar, who is also receiving treatment at a city hospital, said Ashiquzzaman was at his in-laws house in Armanitola when the fire broke out.
