Ministry finally accepts Hailong wind farm plan
‘LONG JOURNEY’: The firm said that it looks forward to delivering on its commitments, after many meetings on how the local supply chain could benefit from the project

After more than two years of negotiations with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the 300 megawatt (MW) Hailong Offshore Wind 2A (海龍離岸風電) farm off the coast of Changhua County has finally come up with a plan that meets the ministry’s local content requirements.
Hailong’s developer Northland Power Inc, wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA and ministry departments have had numerous meetings to figure out if and how the local supply chain can provide the 27 items that must be made locally for wind farms to qualify for the government’s higher feed-in-tariff rate.

RWE awards massive wind turbine contract to Siemens Gamesa for 1.4GW Sofia project

European renewables group RWE has awarded a wind turbine contract to Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) for its recently announced 1.4GW Sofia offshore wind farm.
Sited on the shallow central area of the North Sea, known as Dogger Bank, the £3 billion-project is predicted to produce energy for more than 1.2 million homes every year.
A total of 100 turbines are set to be deployed in the project and it will mark the first time SGRE installs its 14MW ‘Direct Drive’ offshore wind turbines, whose blades it is claimed to be more than six times longer than the first offshore wind turbine blades ever installed.
