NINE local virus cases recorded

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center recorded nine new positive COVID-19 test results during the three-day period from Saturday through Monday, and Ketchikan High School closed to in-person learning on Tuesday due to two positive cases at the school. Seven of the cases were charted on Monday, and two were counted on Saturday, according to the EOC dashboard on Monday evening. All but one of the seven cases recorded on Monday involved symptomatic individuals. Three of the Monday cases were still under investigation as to source, two were related to recent travel, one was due to close contact with a known positive case and one was found to be community spread, the dashboard showed.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 138 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, two of which were among nonresidents. The state reported no additional deaths related to the virus on Friday, which leaves the total number of Alaska resident deaths tied to COVID-19 at 341. Six nonresidents have also died with COVID-19 while in Alaska. The state reports new cases every weekday, but not on weekends. The next case report will be released Monday. The 136 new Alaska resident cases reported Friday were identified among residents of the following communities:

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Eight total cases of COVID-19 — with two cases involving crewmembers on an Alaska Marine Highway System vessel — were reported by the Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center on Monday. Ketchikan Charter School s main building will be closed for in-person learning on Tuesday after a positive COVID-19 case was identified involving an individual connected to the school. According to a late afternoon press release from the EOC, the two cases involving individuals onboard the AMHS vessel Matanuska were reported on Sunday. One of those individuals is quarantining in Ketchikan hotel, and the other is quarantining at home in Juneau, according to AMHS information.
