A 23-year-old man was charged with fatally stabbing a friend who lived with him near Jordan.
Taylor J. Beuch was charged in Scott County District Court with second-degree intentional murder in connection with the attack Monday at a home in the 4400 block of Cedar Valley Lane in Sand Creek Township.
Casey J. Trutnau, 23, of Jordan, died Tuesday morning at HCMC. Trutnau had been stabbed several times in multiple places.
According to the criminal complaint:
Beuch called 911 and said Trutnau stabbed him first, and he retaliated.
Moments after Trutnau was stabbed, Beuch went to his grandfather s home in the same block, carrying the knife and a water bottle. The grandfather said Beuch claimed the bottle held a cure for the coronavirus.
A Scott County District Court on Wednesday, Dec. 23 granted a motion from the office of Attorney General Keith Ellisonâs for a temporary restraining order against St. Patrickâs Tavern and Restaurant in New Prague.
The court ordered that the establishment is âprevented, restrained, and enjoined from taking any action violatingâ Executive Orders 20-99 and 20-103,â and that they âshall fully comply withâ the orders and âany future Executive Orders. that apply to restaurants and/or bars, while those Executive Orders are effective.â
St. Patrickâs must now comply with the orders or risk being found in contempt of court.

According to the criminal complaint:
Beuch, 23, called 911 and told police dispatch that the victim, identified by law enforcement authorities as Casey Trutnau, also 23, of Jordan, attacked him with a knife, leading him to retaliate. On the call with authorities, Beuch said the victim was still breathing and that he did not know where the knife went.

Police arrived to the scene, a residence in the 4400 block Cedar Valley Lane, Sand Creek Township, a little after 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21. Jordan police found the victim lying near a pool of blood in the front yard. Beuch, who was still on the scene, was arrested, the complaint said. Â
