One song in Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was written by Lennon and was subsequently branded as “garbage” and “a throwaway”. The track in question is Good Morning Good Morning, an up-beat song which has Lennon depicting the story of an unhappy man. The lyrics read: “Going to work, don’t want to go, feeling low down”. Advertisement Say the word Apple today and we think of Steve Jobs multi-billion-dollar technology company that spawned the iPhone and the Mac computer. But a decade before the California-based firm was even founded, the Beatles-owned company Apple Electronics was working on several pioneering inventions – some of which were precursors to commonly available products on the market today.  Apple Electronics was led by Alexis Mardas, a young electronics engineer and inventor originally from Athens in Greece, known to the Beatles as Magic Alex.  He died on this day in 2017, aged 74, and was one of the most colourful and mysterious characters in the Beatles story.  

The UK s best-selling vinyl albums and singles of 2020 have been revealed

The OCC have today (January 6) published their rundown of the top 40 best-selling vinyl albums in the UK in 2020, with Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Rumours’ being named as the biggest-selling vinyl album of last year after it shifted 32,500 copies. Advertisement Oasis’ ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ and Amy Winehouse‘s ‘Back To Black’ complete the top three. The top-selling vinyl album that was released in 2020 was Kylie Minogue‘s ‘Disco’, which has sold 21,500 copies on vinyl since its release in November.
