Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 3-31-21

  SATURDAY, MARCH 27 Crews rotated through annual driver’s training sign off for Type 1 engines and water tenders. 10:47 a.m. – Engine 26, Engine 27 and Battalion 5 responded to a reported hay fire in the 6600 block of Crane Road. On arrival a hay pile under a metal pole barn was found to be burning. One additional engine and three water tenders were requested to the scene. Crews worked to cool the fire then the hay was spread with heavy equipment to complete the extinguishment. 8:45 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 5 responded to an injury vehicle accident on Valley Home Road. On arrival multiple vehicles were involved with a power pole that had been hit. One patient was declared deceased on scene; CHP also on scene investigating.

Condit leaves council, joins Board of Supervisors Channce Condit, Buck Condit and Vito Chiesa took the oath of office on Monday to become members of the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors. Judge Robert Westbook administered the oath. Channce Condit officially left the Ceres City Council on Monday when he was sworn in as a new member of the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors. Condit resigned from his Ceres City Council seat to take the District 2 supervisor’s role while his cousin once-removed Buck Condit now represents District 1, which covers the Oakdale, Riverbank areas. Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Robert Westbrook conducted the swearing in ceremony while all three supervisors wore masks. Buck Condit congratulated the two others, joking that Hughson’s Vito Chiesa had a “real nail biter” race since he was unopposed to represent District 2.

Condit cousins to join Board of Supervisors Jan. 4 Matthew Buck Condit (left) and cousin Channce Condit will both take the oath of office on Jan. 4 to become members of the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors. Two-fifths of the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors will consist of Condits upon the swearing-in ceremony to take place next month. Channce Condit will be resigning from his Ceres City Council seat to take the District 2 supervisor’s role while his cousin once-removed Buck Condit will represent District 1, which covers the Oakdale, Riverbank areas. Channce Condit defeated attorney Tom Hallinan of Ceres in an 18,616 to 12,409 vote outcome, or 60 percent to 40 percent.

Crews arrived to find a well involved motor home parked along River Road near an auto wrecking yard that was threatening structures nearby.
