09 Apr 2021 René de Monchy has been appointed to the top role at Tourism New Zealand after filling in as its interim CEO since November last year. De Monchy replaces Stephen England-Hall as Tourism New Zealand’s CEO, who announced his resignation in October 2020 and officially departed in January 2021 after nearly three years at the organisation. Prior to being appointed interim CEO of Tourism New Zealand, de Monchy managed its commercial function, and first joined the organisation in August 2015 as director of trade, PR and major events. Tourism New Zealand chair Jamie Tuuta said: “René has been an instrumental member of the Tourism New Zealand executive team for over five years, and has done a fantastic job as interim CE over the past few months during in a uniquely challenging time for the sector and the organisation.
