One person was transported to hospital after a small plane crashed shortly after take off at an airport northeast of Edmonton.
The plane went down early Saturday afternoon about 200 metres from the runway at Warren Thomas Aerodrome in Josephburg, said Bruce Patterson, acting deputy chief with Strathcona County Emergency Services.

He did not know the type of plane but said it was “possibly an ultralight.” Two people were on board, both of whom were able to climb out of the aircraft. One was rushed to hospital after an assessment on scene.

Last weekâs snow squall left Strathcona County Emergency Services busy dealing with a range of calls, with the biggest call of the night being a house fire.
Just as the wind started to pick up, local firefighters were alerted to a fire at a residence near Township Road 513 and Range Road 210, two miles from North Cooking Lake, around 7:45 p.m.

âWe arrived on scene 7:54 p.m., so it took us about 15 minutes because it was quite far out in the rural area and when crews got there the house was fully involved,â explained Devin Capcara, deputy fire chief of operations with SCES.
