Alisha Jaynes died Feb. 15, according to Mecosta County sheriff’s deputies.
Firefighters pulled Jaynes from the bathroom of an apartment on Cardinal Court about 5 p.m. Jan. 17 after someone called 911 to report smoke coming from an apartment building. She was unconscious.
FSU police initially tried to get into the apartment, as firefighters were headed to the scene, but could not because the door was obstructed.

BIG RAPIDS Big Rapids Hospital is quickly administering every COVID vaccine it is given, but has experienced problems in how many doses it receives each week.
Andrea Leslie, president of Spectrum Health Big Rapids, Reed City, United and Kelsey hospitals, highlighted Big Rapids’ vaccine efforts during a Town Gown meeting this week.
“We are seeing less and less community spread of COVID right now. Our positivity rate in the community is quite low,” Leslie explained.

1 hospitalized after crash in Mecosta Co.

MECOSTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. â An 18-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after her vehicle flipped near the intersection of Northland Dr. and Filmore St. around 11:40 p.m. Friday night.
Mecosta County Sheriff s deputies found the vehicle overturned, which was caused by both passenger side tires coming off the vehicle.
The driver, a Newaygo County resident, was taken to Spectrum Health Big Rapids, where they are expected to be ok.
The Mecosta County Sheriff s Office was helped by Mecosta Township Fire along with Mecosta E.M.S.
