Bharti Airtel has paid 18K crore out of 44K crore AGR dues calculated by DoT
New Delhi: The Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dispute is far from over. Bharti Airtel has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking recalculation of AGR dues it is bound to pay to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). While Bharti Airtel has already paid over Rs 18,000 crore out of the total AGR dues of Rs 44,000 crore sought by the DoT, its self-assessment had pegged its total dues at Rs 13,004 crore.
Bharti Airtel has contended that AGR payments which were made earlier weren t factored in by the DoT while raising demands for different circles and years. The petition claims that duplication in revenue addition by adding it twice from different audit reports, errors of omission and commission led to rise in AGR dues, alleging that an incorrect interest rate was applied to raise demands for Spectrum Usage Charge (SUC).
