SPOKANE, Wash. Following an 11-day pause of COVID-19 vaccinations using Johnson & Johnson s single-dose shot, the Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) said on Monday that it will resume use of the vaccine.
This comes after federal health officials on Friday lifted the nationwide pause on the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine after investigating 15 cases of blood clots out of 8 million people who received the J&J shot. All cases included women and most were under the age of 50. Three died and seven remain hospitalized.

SPOKANE A number of colleges and universities throughout the U.S., including Cornell and Duke universities, have announced they will require students to get the COVID-19 vaccine to attend during the upcoming fall semester.
Meanwhile, institutions across the Eastern Washington area are either undecided on a requirement or forgoing a mandatory vaccine policy.
Even though coronavirus vaccines only have emergency approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, there is no legal reason colleges could not require COVID-19 vaccinations, said Harvard Law professor Glenn Cohen, though there are also no federal guidelines explicitly permitting such mandates.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Some college students will have another to-do item this summer before starting school. Universities in Eastern Washington are mulling the idea of making the COVID-19 vaccine a requirement.

SPOKANE, Wash. A fourth wave of COVID-19 has hit Washington state, Gov. Jay Inslee said on Thursday, potentially sending more counties back to Phase 2 of reopening including Spokane County.
